The official Jujutsu Kaisen Twitter announced the collaboration between the popular shonen anime and the wildly popular stop-motion children’s series would no longer be just a joke. New images were released with characters side-by-side which will be made available to purchase as well as potentially other merchandise to be announced at a later date.

With Jujutsu Kaisen 0 becoming one of the highest-grossing anime films in the US, the collaboration may seem out of place in general with Pui Pui Molcar not being as well-known in the US, let alone the serious difference in tone between the shows. However, the series featuring the guinea pig car hybrids does have a movie of its own — Tobidase! Narase! Pui Pui Molcar. There also is a video game based on the series titled Pui Pui Molcar Let’s Molcar Party! for the Nintendo Switch.

Pui Pui Molcar was among the most popular anime of the Winter 2021 season when it originally aired and went on to become well-loved by international audiences. With its lack of dialog outside of small squeaks and simple short storylines, it is the perfect show for children of all ages — including children at heart — to enjoy.

Jujutsu Kaisen was among the best-selling manga in 2021 and has a video game adaptation of its own on the horizon. Jujutsu Kaisen: Phantom Parade is set to be a mobile action RPG though it currently has no officially announced release date. With the popularity of anime characters appearing in various Japanese mobile games, especially gatchapon games. It might not be impossible to see a special event with the adorable fuzzy critter cars come to the title as part of the ongoing collaboration plans.

Other anime participated in April Fools’ Day jokes with BanG Dream! making its own miniature spin-off dating simulator, Azur Lane creating a fake trailer for an RPG-style game, and Shadows House making a full 7-minute preview of a fake film based on the series using puppets.

Pui Pui Molcar is currently available to stream on Netflix. Jujutsu Kaisen is available to stream on Crunchyroll as well as HBO Max and has currently been renewed for a second season.
