In Blackout, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 players may notice a mysterious light in the sky. Just like on Zombies maps, this light indicates the location of the mystery box, and if players head there, they will find not only a classic-style mystery box (complete with teddy bear), but an area swarming with zombies. Since players don’t earn points in Blackout like they do in Zombies, some may be confused about how they can actually go about opening the mystery box, but the solution is actually rather simple.

To open the mystery box in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode, players just need to hang around the mystery box and kill all the zombies that spawn. Eventually, the mystery box will open, granting players access to some great loot inside, including things like level 3 armor, rocket launchers, and more. Considering how hard it is to find this loot elsewhere on the Blackout map, it’s definitely worth heading to the mystery box in the game whenever possible.

Of course, other players will likely try to get the mystery box loot for themselves, so Black Ops 4 players should be mindful of that. It’s usually a good idea to land somewhere away from the mystery box, load up on weapons and the best perks, and then try to get to it. This way players will be properly prepared to fight off not only enemy players, but the zombies as well.

The zombies in Blackout are really no joke, and are fairly tough to kill. Considering this, players should be prepared to expend quite a bit of ammo if they hope to kill enough of them to actually open the mystery box and get the loot inside, so again, gearing up before heading to the light is the best bet.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
