Blackburn Rovers defender Scott Dann has been ruled out for six weeks after apparently rupturing his testicles during the 2-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion during the weekend. Dann has been in great form for Rovers this season and this news comes as a big blow to Steve Kean, who trying extremely hard to revive the club’s down falling fortunes.
“Our physio cannot believe it. He has two players out with problems that he has never come across before in all of his years experience. Scott Dann has come in and played so well to replace Phil Jones, but in our last match he was hurt and it now transpires he will be out for six weeks with a ruptured testicle,” Steve Kean was quoted by ESPNSoccernet.
Blackburn are currently struggling at the bottom of the Premier League table and for now, it appears that injuries are mouting up as the club prepares for the busy festive period. Gael Givet has also been ruled out for a few weeks, joining Dann, Olsson and Salgado on the injury list.
“Givet needs heart surgery as he was suffering with 300 beats a minute, and again our physio hadn’t come across anything like that,” Kean added. “We have had problems all season, notably with our back four and now have a winger Morten Gamst Pedersen playing at left-back.”
The Rovers are currently four points off safety and will face fellow strugglers, Bolton Wanderers in a must-win clash on Tuesday.
