Mathias Ometu, 33, described the incident as “an unwarranted atrocious physical assault” in a recently filed lawsuit, the San Antonio Express-News reported. Ometu was stopped by the two officers, including one who is Black, who were seeking Darren Smith Jr. for allegedly attacking a woman at an apartment complex in August last year. Derek Chauvin, the officer who knelt on Floyd’s neck for over eight minutes, has been charged with second-degree murder. On Wednesday, Tou Thao, J. Alexander Kueng and Thomas Lane—the three other officers present—were charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder and aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter in Floyd’s death. U.S. cities including New York; Washington, D.C.; Raleigh, North Carolina; Los Angeles and Atlanta have imposed citywide curfews in an effort to dissuade demonstrations after dark....

Shawn Bauck, 25, said he and his girlfriend were in Estes Park in March when they decided to grab food at Cousin Pat’s Pub and Grill. Bauck told Newsweek that their server started making derogatory comments about Black people, including using the N-word.
